Our First Design Intern

For our first blog post, we’d like to introduce a critical part of Maven’s culture: interns. As a startup, we look for design interns that are curious, self-motivated and creative. We set up our culture to ensure that everyone, including our interns, are on the same creative “playing field” and expect our interns to have a unique point of view on the tough challenges we face daily.

Our first intern, Andrei Hogea, joined us for a summer internship for a few weeks in August. Andrei is a current student at Illinois Institute of Technology’s (IIT) Institute of Design, getting his Master of Design (MDes) and MBA. His focus has been on entrepreneurship, and what a better way to learn than from joining our startup!

Andrei is the tech-guy of the group, focusing on integrating new technologies into businesses to expand their capabilities. His outlook is that every innovative technology can vastly improve the consumer experiences. In addition to his internship, Andrei also has an augmented reality project with several students from IIT, developing an innovative retail experiences on the Microsoft HoloLens. We’ve been more than thrilled to learn and be a part of his work.

In his spare time, Andrei has been exploring the wonderful city of Atlanta. He considers himself a Bloody Mary Maven (see what we did there? 😉), and has been on the hunt for the perfect one. If you have any suggestions, give him a shout. He’ll reward you with a long chat about the future of the tech world.

If you’re interested in learning more about augmented reality or meeting Andrei, stop by our launch party. He will be around giving demos with the Microsoft HoloLens.

Stay tuned for future posts, and an update on Andrei’s AR retail experience project .
